Dr János Góbi is an attorney specialising in long-term wealth preservation and succession planning, with particular expertise in the design, implementation, and administration of trust and fiduciary asset management structures. His work focuses on developing stable, sustainable legal solutions that combine commercial efficiency with the preservation of family values and long-term continuity.
In the field of trust and fiduciary asset management, Dr Góbi provides comprehensive legal support throughout the entire lifecycle of a structure – from strategic planning and legal implementation to ongoing administration and governance. He assists clients in establishing tailored wealth management solutions designed to protect and transfer assets efficiently across generations.
In advising family-owned businesses, he supports clients throughout the succession process by addressing not only legal and financial matters but also the organisational and interpersonal aspects of generational transition. His services include developing succession strategies, defining governance structures, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and strengthening cooperation among family members. His objective is to ensure a smooth and successful transition that safeguards both the long-term sustainability of the business and family harmony.
Dr Góbi obtained his law degree and his LL.M. in Economic Criminal Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs. During his studies, he also completed legal studies at the Faculty of Law of Karl-Franzens University Graz. He passed the Hungarian Bar Examination in 2018.
He began his legal career as a trainee lawyer at Bodnár Law Firm, where he represented both publicly owned entities and private enterprises on a long-term basis. He subsequently joined the National Bank of Hungary (Magyar Nemzeti Bank) as legal counsel, initially working within the Capital Markets and Market Supervision Directorate before serving in the Cabinet of the Deputy Governor responsible for Monetary Policy. During this period, he acquired extensive expertise in financial regulation, capital markets supervision, and central banking.
Between 2019 and 2026, Dr Góbi headed his own practice, Góbi Law Firm, providing high-level legal services in the fields of corporate and commercial law, banking law, financial law, credit institution workout and restructuring, real estate law, regulatory compliance, and trust and fiduciary asset management.
Alongside his legal practice, Dr Góbi has been actively involved in several professional organisations. He has been a member of the Corporate Governance Section of the Hungarian Economic Association, the Association of Hungarian Financial and Economic Auditors, and the Legal Committee of the Hungarian Yachting Association. He is currently a member of STEP Hungary (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Hungary), the Hungarian association of professionals specialising in trusts, estate planning, and succession.
